Not only is this plug illegal, it has rusted so severely that the propane tank may be taken out of service permanently if the repairs can't be made. Do it yourself propane tank repair is not advisable under any circumstance. Additionally, if an evacuation of the tank was needed, there is no way to get any of the gas out without an actuated liquid withdrawal valve.
