Damaged Propane Tank Liquid Withdrawal Valve

damaged propane tank liquid withdrawal valve

The result of trying to move a tank yourself. This tank was in a public place being used as a temporary tank for a roofing tar kettle. A forklift was in the process of moving the tank when the chains that were attached to the lifting lugs slipped off the forks. The tank rolled over shearing off the liquid withdrawal valve releasing about 125 gallons of propane into the immediate vicinity. This roofer was lucky that the damage was limited only to the tank and nobody was hurt.
